# Is Bonjour required?

During the install, I didn’t accept Bonjour. Will Codebook work without it? If no, how do I recover?

Hello @rplatt

Thank you for your support of Codebook. Codebook on the desktop utilizes Bonjour for local service discovery used only for local WiFi synchronization. If you opt to use another synchronization such as Google Drive, or Dropbox you will not need it. We talk about the topic here a bit:
