# SQLCipher 4.7.0 Release

We are happy to announce that SQLCipher 4.7.0 is now available. This is the most significant update since SQLCipher 4 with improvements to memory management, library initialization, and cryptographic operations. It should prove to be much faster and more efficient for most integrating applications.

**However, this release does contain breaking changes, particularly related to the build process**. Please review the release notes for a full list of changes before upgrading.
