Sync Bug Fixed
We have had a few occasional reports of there being a bug in Codebook for macOS that could sporadically prevent edits made in the app from syncing properly, and we’ve now found the issue and fixed it in this version. It was a difficult bug to reproduce; we really appreciate the patience of our customers who’ve experienced it. Thanks also to the customers who helped us test the fixes in this version.
If you have experienced this bug, where you have changes or additions to your data in Codebook for macOS that has not synced to your other devices, the situation can be resolved pretty easily by having Codebook for macOS perform a Merge sync. Please get in touch with our support team for assistance with performing a Merge sync.
I have been running into an issue that sounds like what’s described here. I added an entry, hit Enter after typing in the first field, and Codebook crashed. I restarted Codebook, completed filling in the entry, and the entry will not appear on my other devices. I was on an older version so I upgraded to 5.2.2 however the exact same issue repeats. How can I share the crash log? I’m also unsure how to proceed as I try creating a new entry with the hope that the old entry is just corrupted however the new one also results in a crash.
I was able to create a new entry and successfully sync to other devices by not using Enter to confirm field values. The Enter key seems to be what triggers the crash.
I forgot to mention in my previous comment, but I’m on macOS 14.7.2, with Codebook 5.2.2.
Sorry to hear about the crash. When the crash occurs and the crash window appears, could you copy the crash detail contents from the crash report window that appears and send it over to us at support@zetetic.net so we can review it. Thanks!
The issue reported by @cspeckrun will be resolved in the next release of Codebook for macOS. Thanks for taking the time to report the issue and confirm the fix @cspeckrun
