Codebook 5.4 - Passkeys

:warning: This version updates the Codebook database structure. You must update Codebook on all your devices to 5.4 to continue syncing. :warning:

Codebook 5.4 is now available on all platforms.

This release adds Passkey support!

There’s documentation available on our website which has a simple explanation of Passkeys and how to enable Passkeys in Codebook

Passkeys required these minimum system versions:

Android: 14.0

iOS: iOS 17.0

macOS: macOS 14.0

Windows: Windows 11 version 24h2

Passkeys are a more secure alternative to passwords.

Passkeys are assigned to Entries, accessible under a new Passkeys tab. The Entry list also includes an indicator icon when an Entry has a passkey. If you use Codebook Cloud, our optional, automatic background synchronization service, you can share passkeys with another user by sharing the Entry that contains the passkey. Passkeys also sync with Codebook’s other sync options.

There’s more information available on the Codebook 5.4 passkeys blog post

Whoa, thanks. I got up in the middle of the night to try this, when I saw it was available. I added a passkey to a bunch of accounts to test it, and it works without friction. Nice release!

Hi Rick,

Thanks very much! I just wanted to follow-up real quick: let us know if you notice anything off with the Japanese translations for these features, if you have the time. We relied on a mix of machine translation and comparing those with known good translations.

Cheers!
