Codebook not working after cloning from old Iphone

I have cloned my old Iphone 12 to a new Iphone 17 using Apples recommended wireless method.
Almost everything was transferred to the new Iphone and most apps are working correctly except
for the Codebook. On the new Iphone the Codebook app will start and ask for the password, but
NO attempt with the original master password let me sign in. Also the possibility to use
face ID that was enabled on the old Iphone has disappeared. So what to do?
Do I have to delete the cloned Codebook app from the new Iphone and reinstall it?
And if so, how do I get Codebook to work again and synchronized with my Windows 11 laptop?
Any ideas? I have Codebook 5.2.6

Hi @Stig

Thanks for using Codebook and reaching out, although I’m sorry to hear about the trouble.

We’ve seen cases where it can take some time for all the App data to transfer after transferring information from an old phone to a new phone via iCloud restore or wireless method.

If all your Codebook data is currently present on Codebook for Windows, the easiest thing to do is to re-install (delete it and re-download/install it from the App Store) Codebook on your iPhone and import your Sync Key from your Windows machine and sync with it.

There are instructions for how to do that here: Codebook Help - Syncing with a New Device

DO NOT DELETE THE CODEBOOK APP FROM YOUR PHONE IF YOUR CODEBOOK DATA ISN’T PRESENT ON YOUR WINDOWS MACHINE

It turned out to be a problem with the password.
When I bought a new computer, I used a better password for Codebook
than the one I had on the old computer.
For the iPhone 12 Codebook, I had used the same password as on the old computer.
Because I used Face ID on the iPhone, the password didn’t need to be entered.
When I cloned the iPhones, Face ID was not automatically activated
on the new one. When I tried to use the same password for Codebook as on the new computer,
it naturally didn’t work.

But the “old” password worked, and now I can once again synchronize Codebook
on the new iPhone with my laptop.

The problem is therefore solved!

Thanks for the quick response!

@Stig

Excellent news! Glad you were able to resolve the issue by using the correct (old) password to login.

If you’d like to change your Codebook Master Password on your new iPhone, you can do so via Settings > Change Master Password within Codebook.

Face ID login won’t ever transfer when you get a new device as it’s stored in the secure enclave of the previous device and not transferred from iCloud backups or wireless transfer.

Please feel free to reach out again if you have any further questions, issues, or feedback.
