For some reason unable to make a copy of existing entry. No matter what I do, the menu icon for paste remains disabled.

What version of STRIP are you running? You should be able to select the entry with your mouse within the entry list and press Ctrl + c to copy, Ctrl + v to paste the entry (Cmd in place of Ctrl on the Mac). Does that work for you?
