Trouble Syncing after upgrade to Codebook 5

I switched to Codebook specifically because it does not require a subscription. So “Codebook Cloud” is entirely voluntary, but upon upgrade, Codebook no longer has a Sync button, to synch with my online vault.

What am I not understanding about this?
Should you say, with Codebook 5, if you want to synch devices, you must use our subscription Cloud service?

I have my own vault established. I’m happy with what was my current setup until version 5 arrived.

Are private vaults now broken with Codebook? If not broken, why do I not have a synch button in the app? If not broken, what needs to be done to restore my ability to sync with my vault with my devices?

Do I have to, do I need revert to v4 to solve this? Is it possible to revert, or should I be off looking for another synch product?
Thanks.

Hi @SneakPeak - A few things moved around with Codebook 5, but we have not disabled any of the existing Sync options in the App. Codebook does not require a subscription to use. The only subscription option is for Codebook Cloud which is a new sync option (but the old ones still work).

If you can write into us at support@zetetic.net via email we’ll be happy to work with you to troubleshoot the problem. When you write in, please provide us with a bit of information about what platforms you are using (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS) and which Sync service you were using. I’m quite sure we can solve the problem for you.

I appreciate the fast response. I’ve sent you the info via email. For anyone who is curious I’m using a 2016 MBP with OS 12 Monterey. The Codebook app has upgraded to version 5.0, but under the sync menu where a sync button used to exist, it’s no longer there, just an option to subscribe to Codebook Cloud. Both my iPhone and iPad updated to v5 and the synch buttons are still there.

Problem solved, thank you Zetetic Support. Ok I admit I sounded a bit agitated, but I’ve witnessed this long trend of software switching ro subscription models. In this case, that was not the case.

The update to V5 auto switched the app on my Mac to Codebook Cloud as the default synch method. At tech support’s suggestion, I went to Preferenes>Sync, it had changed to Codebook Cloud. I changed it back to Dropbox, quit and restarted and the Sync Option came back! Happy again…
