Important Changes Coming Next Week in Codebook 5

Be sure to check the new minimum OS version requirements before you upgrade!

Next week we will be releasing Codebook 5 for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, along with our new, automatic sync service Codebook Cloud.

About Codebook Cloud

We have lots of information about Codebook Cloud available on our FAQ.

Since a few folks have asked already: when you upgrade to Codebook 5, Codebook Cloud will not be turned on automatically—we would never upload your data to our service without your permission! Codebook 5 will prompt you to try out the service, but that’s entirely up to you. Turning on Codebook Cloud sync requires creating an account and choosing a subscription plan.

As many customers have automatic updates enabled, we would like to make sure you are aware of the new minimum OS version requirements before you upgrade.

Codebook 5 requires you to update on all of your devices to continue using all sync features, it will not sync with prior versions of Codebook.

If Codebook 5 is not supported on some of your devices, you may wish to disable automatic updates until you can upgrade your operating system.

Minimum Supported Operating Systems in Codebook 5

  • Android: 5.0
  • iOS: 13
  • macOS: 10.15
  • Windows: 10

How To Disable Updates

While we would prefer you keep updates for Codebook enabled, we understand if you are not yet ready to upgrade. Follow the steps below to turn off automatic updates on your devices.

  2. Tap on the account icon in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Scroll down and tap on Settings
  4. Tap on Network Preferences
  5. Tap on “Auto-update apps”
  6. Select “Don’t auto-update apps”

Please note, this will turn off all updates to your Google Play apps until you turn it back on.

iOS

  2. Scroll down and tap on App Store
  3. Turn off the switch next to “App Updates”

Please note, this will turn off all updates from the App Store until you turn it back on.

macOS

If you installed Codebook from the Mac App Store:

  1. Launch the App Store app on your Mac
  2. Click on the App Store menu > Settings
  3. Uncheck the setting “Automatic Updates”

Please note, this will turn off all updates from the App Store until you turn it back on.

If you downloaded the Direct (or Beta) version of Codebook for macOS, you don’t need to do anything. But you can turn off the automatic check for updates like so:

  1. Launch Codebook and log in with your Master Password
  2. Click on the Codebook menu > Preferences
  3. Click on the Updates tab
  4. Un-check the setting “Automatically check for updates”
