So, my iPhone has been merrily updating Codebook as needed. Kept the Dropbox sync and all seemed good. Then I went to sync my desktop version on my MBPro. This is an older laptop that I’m keeping running both because of a legacy App that I need an holding out for the M4 versions coming. So it’s running Codebook 4.5.8. Sync now tosses an error that a newer version of Codebook has sync’d and I’m unable to sync my desktop now.
Please advice. I would have turned off app updates on my phone had I known I’d be locked out.
Thank you for your support of Codebook and for posting the discussion forum, although I’m sorry to hear about the trouble.

We communicated these important changes were coming which would be incompatible with previous version of Codebook (including instructions to disable automatic updates if necessary) about a week before with released them. We sent out an email to everyone who was subscribed to the Codebook mailing list and then cross posted it here on the discussion forum: Important Changes Coming Next Week in Codebook 5
It’s very hard to support older versions of macOS (and Apple has been making it harder), but we’ve put in a lot of effort over the years to do so and have had a pretty good track record of allowing Codebook to run on some pretty old Mac hardware.
Because there is no way to backtrack once you’ve updated (the iOS App store only serves the latest compatible version to your device), you won’t be able to sync with your older MBPro until you update to get newer hardware which supports macOS 10.15 Catalina or higher.
