Codebook for macOS 5.2.5 Released

Codebook version 5.2.5 is available now, upgrade instructions are here for those without automatic software updates enabled.

This is a very minor bugfix update, tightening up some loose ends.

Changes in this version

  • Fixes Password AutoFill suggestions not properly updating when customizing labels using File menu > Customize Labels
  • Disables advanced sync operations for WiFi sync (should be initiated from a mobile device)

Hello Bill:
after OS5.2 release: codebook manual synch produces the warning: connection denied. I connect the mac mini and the iPhone with a cable as I did all rte time ?

Hi @franzmeier

Micah here. Nice to hear from you again, but sorry to hear about the trouble. It sounds like you’re syncing using Desktop WiFi sync, is that correct?

From the error message, it sounds like the connection isn’t able to be made between your iPhone and your Mac Mini.

You shouldn’t need to connect your deices using a cable to sync over Desktop WiFi, in fact in some cases that could cause issues. Instead you’ll want to connect the devices to the same WiFi network.

A few preliminary things that I’d like you to check:

  • Did you recently update your Mac Mini to macOS Sequoia? If so there’s a new Local Network Privacy setting which needs to be enabled for Codebook to be able to sync over Desktop WiFi. The system should have prompted you to enable it when first opening Codebook after the update to Sequoia, but we’ve seen cases where this hasn’t occurred. You can enable this setting under Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, ensure the switch next to Codebook is on.
  • Codebook for macOS is set to Desktop WiFi sync under Codebook menu > Settings > Preferences > Sync Tab (you should see the WiFi symbol in the bottom right corner of the window).
  • On your iPhone, login to Codebook and go to Sync, set the Service to Desktop WiFi, tap the computer row (even if your computer name is already showing up there), does your computer name show up in the Local Network list on the next page? If so re-select it and attempt to sync again.

If none of these preliminary suggestions work, we have some further troubleshooting suggestions here: Codebook Help - Troubleshooting WiFi Sync

Let me know if this gets you back up and syncing again. Thanks!
