Codebook on Windows 11 setup doesn't work

I have an existing Codebook account. It’s been working for me for a long time.

I just got a new Windows 11 PC. When I try and install Codebook on my PC, it asks to see the “Add a New Device” sync key QR code from my iPhone. When I hold up the QR code on my iPhone to the PC camera, nothing happens.

Is there anyway to get this to work, or to do it manually? There’s no option on the PC Codebook “Import Codeebook Sync Key from QR code” screen to do anything (sanitized image attached)

Not very impressive

I had to sign in to the “New to Codebook” section on the initial screen, even though I’m not new to Codebook. Then I could setup sync by importing a sync key file that I exported from my original installation.

Hi @BenSlade,

Thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear you experienced some troubles during the setup with a new machine. Unfortunately, some webcams can be troublesome when reading QR codes. The first-time setup experience is currently optimized for ingesting a Sync Key via QR code. If that doesn’t work in your environment, we do offer the Setup Sync Later option on the first screen which will allow you to skip that portion of the setup. Once you complete the initial setup by specifying your Master Password and other configuration options, the main application window supports importing an existing Sync Key via QR code, word list, or a Sync Key file. Again, I’m sorry to hear you had troubles with the initial import, please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
