Sync from iOS to Windows via Google Drive not happening :(

Hi all, got a problem here I can’t solve.

I use Codebook 5.3.0 (4390) on iOS 18.7.3 on my iPhone XR. I sync my database with a Google Drive account (which is my backup).

I’m just testing that if I lose my iPhone, I’ll be able to access my Codebook database on a PC (I’m a daily Linux user, but it appears there’s still no Codebook for Linux, so I’ll use Windows 11 to test).

I installed Codebook 5.3.6.0 (dffeb11a) on Windows 11, setup my master password, imported the sync key file generated on my iPhone Codebook instance, and linked my Google Drive account.

When I click sync → restore, the wheels turn, something seems to be happening, but then it completes, and I still have the same default database in Windows Codebook.

It seems something hasn’t connected properly. How do I fix this?

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Hello @teracow,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having an issue, I’d be happy to help. Would you mind capturing the sync log in Codebook for Windows following the restore so we can review what is reported and send them to us at support@zetetic.net?

After you perform the restore on Windows, navigate to the Help > View Log Window menu and click the copy button to capture the log content.

Would you also include a screenshot of the hidden app data storage found here, you will need to click Manage apps on the left side, and locate Codebook within the main listing:

This will give us an indication of how much data is being stored in Google Drive for Codebook.

Hi Nick, and thanks for responding.

I’ve just-now emailed those details though as-requested.

Cheers!

Thanks again for your help Nick. All working now. :+1:

Solution: I had to unlink iOS Codebook from my Google Drive, and re-link it.
