I can watch Codebook sync with Drive from my PC, then I open Codebook on my Android device and sync, it makes the sync.lock and finishes, but nothing is updated.
The PC is running the 5.0 Beta.
The Android phone is running the current 4.xx.
The Android device creates a Zetetic folder, but the PC places the backup files in the root folder. Why is the beta version placeing the backup files in the root? This is bad behavior.
After syncing with the Codebook Cloud, you will need to switch your sync service to a sync service that Android supports such as Google Drive or Dropbox and initiate a sync as Codebook Cloud support is not yet available on Android. Additionally, you will need to install the Codebook for Android beta build for sync compatibility. Please follow these instructions below:
To enable beta updates for Codebook 5 on your Android devices:
On the app detail view for Codebook that loads, under “Join the Beta” tap Join > Join
If this is not the email address you use for Google Play, you will not be able to access the beta. Please get in touch and let us know what address to use instead.
The Codebook for Android beta update will then be available directly through Google Play as an update.
Would you mind reaching out to us at support@zetetic.net with your Google Play email address? I would like to confirm the address we have registered for you is in fact the Google Play account email address, otherwise you will not be able to enroll in the Codebook for Android beta.
What do you mean not to the Zetetic folder? Are you referring to the Zetetic folder on Google Drive? What Google Drive email address are you using for sync within Codebook on each platform? Would you mind sending this information over via our support email address listed above?
That was a different email address than originally provided. I have added the new email address to our Google Play beta distribution group. Please try these steps again, then an update should appear via Google Play.

When I sync from the Android device, Codebook creates a Zetetic folder and syncs to that, but the PC app syncs to the root of Google Drive. So, the databases are different. How can I correct this? I don’t see a setting for it.
Excellent, I am glad to hear you were able to install the latest beta. This report is unexpected as the Codebook for Android beta build 5.0.1 (208) continues to support syncing with Google Drive when using Codebook for Windows (i.e., when syncing with Google Drive they should be syncing to the same location). Are you logged into the same Google account for syncing on both Codebook for Windows and Codebook for Android?
Yes, both are syncing to the Drive account for [redacted].
I can delete the Zetetic folder in Drive, then click sync on my Android device, and I can see it create the directory a /zetetic/shards/ and the sync.lock and the codebook-metadata.db file. Then I can sync the PC and it creates codebook-metadata.db and the sync.lock in the root of my Drive.
I tried deleting the codebook-metadata.db in the zetetic folder and moved the file from the root location. Then I did another sync. A codebook-changesets-1.db was created, but a record I changed on the PC was not updated on the Android device.
I just wanted to provide an update. Earlier today we released a new version of Codebook on all platforms (including the beta builds you’ve been testing). This update specifically changes the location of the sync’ed data stored on Google Drive to a user AppData section. Data will no longer be stored in /Zetetic/Shards folder on Google Drive when syncing with the new versions. More details are addressed here [1], however, you should update your Codebook clients in unison to make sure everything continues to sync properly. Would you give that a try when you get the opportunity and let us know your results?
The Android device updated to 5.0.2 (210), but when I try to update the PC it says it has the current version 5.0.3.0. I thought I saw somewhere that the latest version is 5.0.5.0. Am I wrong?
This is disconcerting. Both devices indicate that they synced successfully, but there isn’t a file on Drive. Also, /AppData/Roaming/ has a Zetetic folder, and there are files in there, but none seem to be a data file.
Are you receiving the email updates containing instructions for accessing the beta installers? If not, the instructions may be found here [1] for accessing the latest installers. The Windows installer for Codebook Cloud must be downloaded directly as of right now (the current Codebook for Windows CodebookCloud beta is version 5.0.5). We are not distributing an automatic updater for this specific beta testing group. You will need to update all Codebook clients to sync properly with the new Google Drive changes.
